Forest Hills Electrical Supply, Inc. was founded in February of 1990 as a full line wholesale distributor of lighting and electrical supplies.

The company leased 8800 square feet in a old mill complex in the Forest Hills section of Jamaica Plain, a metropolitan entity of Boston. The building employed low tech amenities such as no heat, concrete floors, and poor lighting. Our furniture and store fixtures were bought second and third hand at surplus. Although it was spartan, it served it's purpose and allowed the company to spend it's coffers on more useful things such as inventory and employees wages and benefits.

The company sought to create and fill a niche in servicing the small to mid size contractor and local businesses and end users. As the company grew we expanded our product lines, (gaining many national lines), our customer base and our geographical area of coverage.

The company originally started with two partners. In May of 1990, the company's first paid employee, an all around supply person was hired. In August of the same year, a full time truck driver was hired. In 1993, an inside sales person and a full time commercial lighting specialist were hired. In December of 1999, one of the principals retired and sold his interest to the present owner. At present we have twelve employees and a more defined job description for all of them.

In 1995 the company moved about 400 yards to it's present location, a 15000 square foot building in a four acre industrial complex on Washington Street, a high traffic street that runs from Downtown Boston to Rhode Island. The new location features a thousand square foot sales area, a thousand square feet of office space, wire cutting and paralleling room, tail gate and drive-in docks, twenty six foot warehouse ceiling height and computerized inventory as well as outside storage and ample customer parking.

From a location stand point we are less than seven miles from Downtown Boston, Logan Airport, Cambridge, the Massachusetts Turnpike and routes 128 and I-93.

The company has experienced a growth rate of nearly 18 % for each and every year it has been in business. The principal reasons for the company's steady growth has been due to the diligence of it's employees and willingness on their part to do what ever it takes to satisfy it's customers and attract new customers.

In the summer of 2000, the company bought the assets of a small wholesaler specializing in light-bulb and ballast sales. The company known as Wholesale Lamp, a specialist in hard to find and energy efficient products with more than nineteen years of experience has grown as a sales division of Forest Hills Electrical Supply.
